Every data point comes from real job postings and verified compensation data. We analyze 4,250+ SE job postings across 15 US markets, cross-referenced with survey data from working SE professionals. No vendor affiliations drive our rankings. No pay-to-play reviews.
Why PreSales Pulse Exists
Two things are true about the SE profession: it pays well and it's poorly documented. The only salary data available comes from two annual vendor-sponsored PDFs (Consensus and Reprise), both gated behind email forms and both produced by companies that sell to SEs. Independent tool reviews are almost nonexistent. Career path data is scattered across Slack threads and informal conversations.

Rome Thorndike is the founder of PreSales Pulse and VP of Revenue at Firmograph.ai. He has directly managed solution engineering and pre-sales teams, building demo environments, developing SE scripts, and establishing best practices for technical selling. Over 15+ years in B2B sales and revenue leadership at Salesforce, Microsoft, Snapdocs (Sequoia-backed), and Datajoy (acquired by Databricks), Rome has worked alongside and led SE teams across complex enterprise deals. He holds an MBA from UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business. He built PreSales Pulse because pre-sales professionals are the backbone of enterprise software sales and deserve dedicated career intelligence.
